Our AM RF transmitter modules are suitable for low data rate applications and are compatible with our AM RF receiver modules. They are suitable for applications such as RF remote control, remote sensor reporting, wireless security alarm systems and wireless data communications. The achievable range is dependant on the anntenna used, the data rate and the sensitivity of the RF receiver module and of course, the operating environment. Typical open field range of 300 ft is achieved with the low power modules.
The radio transmission for OOK AM transmitter is usually controlled by the input data stream from an external device such as a data encoder, embedded microcontroller, or any other bit pattern generator like the ubiquitous 555 timer. Simply, when the data input to the transmitter is HIGH the RF modules carrier frequency is ON and when the data input is LOW the carrier frequencty is OFF. This operation is referred to as ON OFF KEYED modulation(OOK).
